Kenneth Hanington, MD
Dr. Kenneth Hanington received his
undergraduate training at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado
Springs, Colorado. He completed his MD at Georgetown Medical School, his
internship in general surgery at Keesler USAF Medical Center in Missouri, his residency
in orthopedic surgery at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in Texas, and his
fellowship in hand surgery at the Hand Surgery Associates of Indiana in
Indianapolis. He served as a faculty member at the University of Health
Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, and was a micro-vascular instructor for the
military.
Dr. Hanington specializes in hand
surgery. He is the former chief of hand surgery for the Air Force and the
former consultant to the surgeon general for hand surgery, as well as a former
medical provider to the Cincinnati Reds. He came to Bend in 2006, after
retiring from the Air Force. At Desert Orthopedics, he addresses hand and arm
issues varying from congenital conditions to arthritis. He loves his work and
particularly enjoys that his specialty allows him to work with patients of all
ages.
Dr. Hanington grew up on Long
Island, New York. He and his wife have three grown children. For recreation, he
enjoys hiking, biking, canoeing, downhill skiing and cross-country skiing.
